Undead

Faction: Undead

Location: Surface World / Hell

Undead are divided up into two variants. The undead of necromatic magic on the surface world and the undead controlled by certain kingdoms in hell.

The undead from necromatic magic can come from a variety of things and the undead from that magic can vary in strength. Average necromancers from ranks F through B can summon your standard skeletons. Necromancers above those ranks usually can produce undead creatures aside from skeletons. The strongest creatures that can be summoned from a possible A or S rank necromancers. There are other ancient spells in the world that apparently had the ability to summon other creatures, but many of those spells have been lost to time.

Surface World Necromancy

Usable by humanoid races that can learn magic. These undead are structured, predictable, and tied to the necromancer’s experience, mana pool, and available corpses.

Novice Summons

Basic undead, easy to reanimate, low mana cost, used for scouting or swarming.

  • Skeleton Soldiers – The classic bones-and-swords troops. Fragile but reliable.

  • Zombies – Rotting, slow, but tanky and infectious.

Intermediate Summons

Require a trained necromancer with basic tomes and some mana control.

  • Ghouls – Rabid, flesh-eating undead that move faster than zombies. Often used to rip apart weakened foes.

  • Wraiths – Semi-corporeal spirits of the tormented dead.

Advanced Summons

Requires deeper study, rarer corpses, and moderate mana to maintain. Can fight elite foes.

  • Flesh Golem – A sewn-together abomination of corpses. Tanky, slow, but hits like a warhammer.

  • Bone Golem – Constructed from countless skeletons. Less flesh, more durability. Strong against slashing weapons.

Master Summons

Powerful, large-scale summons. Risky, but rewarding. Often tied to rituals, rare tomes, or high-grade corpses.

  • Skeletal Dragon – A flying skeletal dragon. Great for mid-air battles and fear tactics. Is immune to different magics except for lightning magic.

Demonic Undead

Undead created or controlled demonic necromancy. These entities are not learned but innate to Hell. Manifesting due to demonic mana, cursed rituals, or infernal overlords. Most of these undead are something that surface dwellers would often see in their nightmares. Horrific creatures, with eyes, mouths and claws in areas they shouldn’t be.

Common Demonic Undead

Often encountered as low-level threats

  • Flame-touched Skeletons – Bones wrapped in eternally burning cursed chains. Explode on death in hellfire.

  • Burned horrors – Ash-blackened corpses, constantly twitching and screaming. Their touch sears flesh and soul. Typically try to chase after their victims to hold them and burn them alive.

  • Death Siren  – A thin, zombie-like female with her eyes sewn shut by demonic chains and mouth permanently stretched open. Her scream activates upon hearing sounds and deafens all within range temporarily.

  • Standard Undead – The typical undead similar to the necromancy version from the surface world. Slow and somewhat useless, but can be dangerous in large amounts.

Elite Demonic Undead

More powerful undead with retained skills or disturbing modifications. Often used in frontline invasion waves or as elite units.

  • Death Knight  – Great warriors in cursed armor, wielding hellforged blades. Intelligent and capable of strategy and may command lesser demonic undead.

  • Decay Trolls – Often referred to as ‘Undead Trolls’, decay trolls have their bodies falling apart but are still extremely strong and dangerous. Their mouths are known to unhinge extremely wide trying to eat their prey as a last resort.

  • Bone Ogres – Often referred to as ‘Undead Ogres’, lots of their flesh are gone showing off their bones as their muscles fall through. They are extremely dangerous as a single hit can shatter bones of any creature getting hit by it.

Nightmare Demonic Undead

Rare and powerful. Exist only in areas with massive demonic mana saturation. Often precursors to major events like realm breaches or invasions. There are others not listed, since they are rarely seen.

  • Hive Mind – A floating mass of fused corpses with a giant gaping mouth and five heads on its back that control different elements. Requires some of the corpses to have demonic mana.

  • Abomination – Thin, muscular assassin-type creature with no ears, long limbs, and teleportation. Can teleport itself and up to five others. Travels on all fours, but stands upright when idle. Can foreshadow major invasions or attacks.

  • Undead Rider – A Death Knight and Undead Wyvern that have evolved and work together. Wyvern gains flesh and breathes toxic flame or fumes. The Death Knight becomes hulking and has much more armor, almost making it look like something from a hero’s legend and sometimes compared to the Dread Knights.

Legendary Demonic Undead

Typically serve directly under a king or lord. Rare, sentient, and deeply feared even by other undead. No more than a handful exist at a time.

  • Dread Knights  – The personal enforcers of Hell’s undead Kings and Lords. Tall, armored, and bearing cursed weapons. They speak fluently and lead armies if needed. Only 4 exist at any given time, each one may have unique powers, relics, and usually sometimes have their own unique names.
