Information

Kasumi’s upbringing remains a closely guarded secret, shared only with her closest friend, Nila. She was born into a noble household in the Valralorian capital, where her mother, Narumi, raised her children very strict. Although Narumi loved all her children, she upheld rigid noble values, insisting that her children maintain perfection in the public eye.

As a child, Kasumi felt smothered by the noble lifestyle. While she loved her family dearly, especially her eldest sister, Tomoe, the pressure became unbearable. At the age of 11, Kasumi made the decision to run away, seeking a life of adventure.

Over the years, Kasumi has sent occasional letters to Tomoe, always mentioning that she loves all of them. However, she has remained hesitant to reach out to Narumi, fearing she could resent her. Recently, Tomoe mentioned in a letter that Narumi has softened with age, reflecting on her past decisions and becoming more compassionate. Kasumi has started to consider reuniting with her family someday but remains committed to her current life as an adventurer in Crimson Moon.

At 18, Kasumi joined the guild Abyss, where she met Nila. The two quickly bonded, becoming inseparable best friends. Nila introduced Kasumi to the world of dark magic, a skill that complemented her natural stealth and agility. Their bond deepened as they navigated the challenges of guild life together.

When Nila began visiting Crimson Moon more frequently, drawn to Akiko, Kasumi encouraged her friend to pursue her feelings. Eventually, both Nila and Kasumi left Abyss and joined Crimson Moon, thanks to Akame’s intervention. Kasumi now thrives as part of the guild, honing her skills and finding a sense of belonging among its members.

Abilities
Dark Magic
Kasumi’s dark magic is tailored to her fighting style, allowing her to enhance her weapons. She followed in Nila's footsteps in wanting to learn dark magic, since Nila also knows how to use certain forms of it.

  • Enhanced Claws: When imbued with dark magic, Kasumi’s claws can afflict her enemies with various effects, such as paralysis, blindness, or deafness, depending on her intent. The effects are activated when a deep wound is inflicted.

  • Enhanced Daggers: Kasumi’s daggers can be enchanted to cause her enemies to feel intense internal burning, a painful but non-lethal condition.

Stealth
Kasumi is adept at blending into shadows and moving silently, although she doesn’t yet rival Yuzuki’s mastery of stealth. She excels at ambushing her targets and slipping away unseen.

Relationships

Nila
Kasumi considers Nila her closest and most trusted friend. Their bond was forged during their time in Abyss and has only strengthened since joining Crimson Moon. Kasumi’s loyalty to Nila is unwavering, and she often follows her wherever she goes. She even encouraged Nila to pursue Akiko, believing her friend deserved happiness.

Akiko
Although Kasumi hasn’t spent much time with Akiko, she appreciates her as the reason Nila grew interested in Crimson Moon. Kasumi respects Akiko’s strength and warmth, and she quietly cheers for Nila’s growing relationship with her.

Akame
Kasumi holds immense gratitude for Akame, who stood up for her and Nila during their departure from Abyss. Akame’s willingness to duel for their freedom left a lasting impression on Kasumi, who now views her as both a leader and a protector.

Tomoe
Tomoe is the eldest of the siblings and the one Kasumi feels closest to. As a child, Kasumi often confided in her, and Tomoe’s nurturing and understanding nature helped her navigate the pressures of their noble upbringing. Kasumi has described Tomoe to Nila as not only incredibly beautiful, like their mother, but also ambitious. Despite wishing to escape the rigid constraints of nobility, Tomoe hopes to one day take over the family’s house and reform it, perhaps even shifting their focus toward merchant trade to improve their business.

Misaki and Ryota
Kasumi shares a quieter bond Misaki and Ryota. Though she loves them dearly, she hasn’t maintained as frequent contact with them as she has with Tomoe. Misaki always tried to take after Tomoe but always tried to be as caring as she was. Ryota, being the youngest, is someone Kasumi wishes she could have been there for more as an older sister. Despite their distance, Kasumi often sends her love to them through letters, hoping they know she still cares deeply for them and hopes to see them again sometime soon.

Narumi
Though Narumi’s strict expectations led Kasumi to leave home, she remains a figure of fascination and reverence for her. Kasumi has recounted to Nila that her mother was one of the most beautiful and elegant women among the nobles, using her beauty as a powerful tool in their social dealings. Narumi’s cunning and sharp wit allowed her to maintain their family’s influence, even exposing unfaithful noblemen who sent her letters in secret attempting to get her to sleep with them while cheating on their wives. She would later send these letters to their wives and the families that oversaw their status and had them dealt with.

Kasumi also shared with Nila that her mother has never spoken about what happened to their father. From what Kasumi knows, he left the family shortly after Ryota was born. While Tomoe and Misaki likely have more memories of him, neither speaks of him.
