Information
Kurami initially lived in Whisperwind Village alongside her closest friends, Tetsuhana, Akame, and Suzuran. She was the first of their friend group to move away to Opal's Reach, about a week’s journey from Whisperwind. After the tragic destruction of their village, Kurami stepped up as an adoptive sister for both Akame and Suzuran, gaining the nickname "Big-Sis Kurami," despite Akame being the oldest.

Inspired by hero tales from her childhood, Kurami envisions herself as the hero of Opal’s Reach. Even though she isn't the town’s official leader, the mayor frequently seeks her assistance, knowing she can handle almost any task. In the absence of Akame, Kurami is Opal's Reach’s strongest warrior and a protector of the town. Alongside her warrior role, she manages the fishing operations, including building fishing boats, for the community. Among her close friends when younger, she ranked second in strength, with Tetsuhana being the strongest and Akame third.

Though she dreams of one day having a family, for now, Kurami enjoys the freedom of adventuring. Her ideal partner is someone she considers "heroic" in spirit, though she could also see herself with a gentle, kind soul. In her teenage years, Kurami once confessed to Akame and Tetsuhana that she hoped to have six children someday—a goal they playfully teased her about, suggesting that it implied a great deal of "naughty" time in her future.

Abilities
Water Rush
Kurami can control the water around her while swimming, allowing her to propel herself forward at extreme speeds, enabling her to pierce through tough objects or monsters. She has used this ability a few times to handle wild whales threatening their fishing catches, once even killing one with a powerful rush.

Water Magic
Kurami’s water magic is versatile and adapts to various needs, as long as she has mana to fuel it. She can use it for daily tasks like filling containers, putting out fires, or watering crops. Her advanced techniques include forming water spears for offense, creating barriers for defense, and generating fog or mist to obscure her movements.

Racial Abilities
As a shark demi-human, Kurami has unique abilities including high-speed swimming, breathing underwater, and communicating with some aquatic animals (although they cannot talk back). She’s also physically stronger than the average human, a trait that’s especially useful in combat and heavy lifting.

Relationships
Akame
As one of Kurami’s closest friends, Akame holds a special place in her heart, though Kurami can be critical of Akame’s actions when needed. Now that Akame leads her own guild, Kurami sometimes feels that Akame has embodied the "hero" role she always aspired to. Despite this, their friendship remains strong, and Kurami values Akame’s growth and leadership.

Tetsuhana (Hana)
Hana and Kurami share a fun, mischievous bond. Growing up, they frequently got into trouble together, often spying on boys they found attractive rather than expressing their interest directly. They embraced a playful “bully because I like you” dynamic, with both friends sometimes teasing the boys they secretly admired.

Suzuran
Kurami essentially raised Suzuran from the age of six to sixteen while Akame was away on quests to provide for the family. Suzuran views Kurami as an adoptive sister, although Akame holds the closest place in her heart as a true sister. With Akame now present in Suzuran’s life, Kurami has taken a step back, allowing Akame to fulfill the sisterly role. However, Suzuran still turns to Kurami from time to time for relationship advice with Yuzuki.

Kurohime
Kurami harbors a slight fear of Kurohime—not out of any personal threat, but because she worries that Kurohime might be a corrupting influence on both Akame and Suzuran. Initially, Kurami suspected that Kurohime might be taking advantage of Akame’s guild position, though she has since come to understand this isn’t the case. With Suzuran, Kurami believes that Kurohime has encouraged her to be more adventurous, later realizing that this part of Suzuran’s personality was always there, with Kurohime merely giving her the nudge she needed.
