S1 - Chapter 6
The massive guild hall doors groaned open, revealing Kurohime as the first to enter. Suzuran and Yuzuki, trailing behind, were speechless. An elegant, massive dining table stretched across the main entrance area, currently serving as a makeshift workstation overflowing with blueprints and plans. Three other women sat around it.

Suzuran, recognizing one of them instantly, rushed forward, dropping her gear at the entrance. "Akame!" she exclaimed, launching into a hug with her older sister.

Akame smiled warmly. "Suzu! You arrived earlier than expected."

"This place is incredible, Akame! I can't believe what I'm seeing," Suzuran, short of breath, still stunned by her surroundings.

Akame, still embracing her sister, glanced at the newcomer. "Ah, you must be Yuzuki," she said, focusing on the young woman. "I've heard quite a bit about you from Scarlet and Azure."

Yuzuki nodded, approaching them. "Pleased to meet you, Akame." She extended a hand, but Akame didn’t return the handshake.

Suzuran, stepping back after the hug, stood beside Yuzuki. Akame pulled out a chair at the dining table and sat down, her expression turning serious.

"Two little birds, specifically a red one and a blue one, mentioned a rather intimate moment before your departure from the capital. Correct?"

Yuzuki gulped, bracing herself for the interrogation Kurami had warned her about a week ago. The atmosphere thickened, sweat trickled down her neck. "Yes, ma'am," she confirmed, standing firm. "We kissed."

Suzuran chimed in, sensing Akame's intent. "Akame..." she pleaded.

"Are you using her? Leading her on just to betray her later?" Akame demanded, her voice laced with authority.

"Absolutely not, ma'am," Yuzuki replied confidently.

"Then what are your intentions?!" Akame boomed, rising from her chair and looming over Yuzuki. Her fierce gaze held no anger, only intense scrutiny.

"Akame! That's enough!" Suzuran intervened, alarmed by Akame's sudden aggression.

The hall fell silent. Yuzuki broke the tension. "To be hers," she declared, her voice unwavering. "To be hers and only hers."

Akame's expression softened.

Yuzuki continued, her gaze locked on Akame's crimson eyes. "To be with her, to see her smile light up every single day and every night."

Suzuran couldn't help but blush at this declaration. Akame's face softened completely, breaking into a gentle smile. She placed a hand on Yuzuki's shoulder.

"Do you promise to protect her when I can't?" Akame asked, a hint of vulnerability in her voice.

"Until my last breath," Yuzuki concluded, relief washing over her.

Akame pulled Yuzuki into a sudden hug. The embrace felt genuine, filled with warmth.

Suzuran, sporting a playful pout, marched over and playfully swatted Akame's back. "Did you have to do that right when we arrived? I was seriously worried for a moment!" she grumbled.

Akame chuckled. "I’m sorry, Suzu! But you know I had to, especially with you two sharing a room."

"Sharing a room?" Suzuran and Yuzuki exclaimed in unison, their surprise evident.

“You’re joining our guild aren’t you? Akame said, giving a caring expression. Yuzuki nodded in confirmation.

"Why separate lovebirds, right? New place, new home, new memories. Wouldn't you agree, Akame?" A familiar voice echoed from the doorway, catching everyone's attention.

Kurami leaned casually against the doorframe, clearly having overheard the entire exchange.

"Kurami!" Akame exclaimed, a smile spreading across her face.

Kurami set down her equipment and grinned. "No way I'd miss this!"

Akame chuckled. "I assume you've already met Hana, knowing you."

"Of course!" Kurami said, her own excitement bubbling over. "Though, Akame, did you have to go so hard on Miss Yuzuki?"

Akame chuckled nervously, glancing at Yuzuki. "Forgive me. I’m just looking out for my little sister."

Suzuran and Yuzuki smiled warmly, both moving to hug Akame tightly. She returned the embrace with equal affection.

"Alright, alright, you lovebirds are going to make us other women cry," Kurami teased, gesturing to the two silent women across the room.

"Let me introduce you all," Akame said, breaking away from the hug. She walked towards the two women.

"This lovely lady is Fae, our guild manager. She handles requests, finances, and everything related to the village. Any problems with your pay, she's who you’ll want to complain to."

Fae blushed slightly. "M-Miss Akame! It's... it's a pleasure to meet you all! I look forward to working with you," she stammered, bowing politely.

Suzuran, Yuzuki, and Kurami all waved back in greeting.

"And this stunning woman is—" Akame began, only to be interrupted.

"Ahem," Kurohime coughed from behind everyone, lounging elegantly on a sofa near an unfinished room. She held a delicate teacup in her hand.

Akame rolled her eyes playfully. "Right," she conceded. "This second stunning woman is Yukari, our guild librarian and archivist."

Yukari let out a sultry giggle. "A pleasure to meet you all," she said, bowing before making eye contact with Yuzuki.

Yuzuki's face drained of color. "Yukari? Y-you can't be serious! The legendary Yukari, guild leader of the Valralor assassins from over a hundred years ago? That Yukari?!"

"Glad my name still carries weight," Yukari chuckled, striding over to Yuzuki for a motherly embrace.

"So many good children are still around, it warms my heart. We'll have plenty to catch up on later, about how you dealt with the rotten ones, right?"

"Yes ma'am," Yuzuki squeaked, excitement bubbling under the surface.

"Kurohime, you've all met, I presume?" Akame asked, gesturing towards her.

"Suzuran recognized me flying in," Kurohime replied with a chuckle, rising from the sofa.

"I was afraid just for a little," Suzuran admitted, a smile playing on her lips. "But who else could it have been, given our location?"

"Well then," Akame said, gesturing towards the stairs, "shall we show you all to your rooms?"

Fae and Yukari returned to their work, engrossed in blueprints. Kurohime followed closely behind the group as they ascended the stairs.

Scarlet and Azure were waiting at the top of the stairs, both sporting maid outfits.

"Why are you two dressed like that?" Yuzuki asked, surprised.

"Miss Kurohime asked how we could contribute to the guild," Azure explained. "Cleaning, cooking, assisting others – it's the perfect way to help. Plus, it's similar to what we used to do at the assassin's guild when we weren’t on missions."

Scarlet chimed in. "And these outfits have some light armor mixed in, just in case."

Yuzuki examined Azure's skirt. "That's actually really cool! Thanks for thinking ahead, Miss Kurohime."

Kurohime nodded her appreciation as Scarlet and Azure returned to their duties.

They continued down the second-floor hallway. Akame pointed out Fae's room, located down the right side before a left turn. It was a spacious and luxurious room compared to the others. Kurohime's room, similarly sized, was directly opposite of Fae's on the other side of the hallway. However, Kurohime wouldn't allow anyone inside yet. As they walked down the opposite side of the hallway, Akame explained the purpose of the empty rooms. They were intended for future guild members who wished to live within the guild hall.
Alternatively, members could purchase houses in the village at a discounted rate.

"How many houses are planned for the village?" Kurami inquired.

"Initially, I only planned houses for families we know or are related to, around ten to fifteen," Akame explained. "But Fae suggested we could build significantly more. Currently, we have fifty houses planned."

"Fifty houses?!" Kurami exclaimed, surprise lacing her voice. "Maybe we should move Grammy here after all. Though, I'd need to let Kai and my parents know first."

"Speaking of them, how are they all doing? I saw them once at Grammy's in the past five years. Are they all still working in the Domain of Tides?" Akame asked.

"Yep, still stuck there for work," Kurami replied. "And Kai's even dating one of the lead fisherman's daughters."

Akame chuckled. "Oh boy, better not let Hana hear about that, or she'll be heartbroken."

They continued their journey, ascending the stairs to the third floor. This final floor had a distinct layout compared to the second. While the second floor resembled academic dorms, the third floor exuded luxury. Each room formed the outer perimeter of the floor, with the center boasting an abundance of comfortable seating, tables, and a grand fireplace at the far end. Akame's room, mirroring the spacious design of the rooms downstairs, occupied the left side at the end of the hall. Suzuran's room, equally large and luxurious, was located on the right.
Akame led Suzuran and Yuzuki inside.

"It seems a bit bare, Akame," Suzuran remarked with a hint of disappointment. "I thought you'd have furnished it like the others."

"That's because I didn't want to dictate the design," Akame explained. "You both get to make memories here, so decorate it however you please."

Akame then tossed a hefty bag of gold to Suzuran. "Talk to Fae later tonight to choose your furniture. The carpenter will be here tomorrow to start work."

Excitement sparked in both Yuzuki and Suzuran's eyes. Suzuran embraced Akame in gratitude. They both set down their equipment and began unpacking. Suzuran wasted no time claiming the bed, sprawling out on it with a satisfied sigh. As Akame closed the door, Kurohime caught a glimpse of Yuzuki joining Suzuran on the bed, crawling close.

"Lovebirds," Kurohime mused to herself, a hint of amusement in her thoughts.

"Where am I bunking?" Kurami asked.

"Choose any empty room for now," Akame replied. "They all come with the basics – a bed, bath, and everything else you'll need immediately."

Kurami chuckled. "Waiting for me to make a permanent decision, are we?"

"We both know you were sold the moment you walked in," Akame countered with a laugh.

"You know me too well. And yes, I think Grammy might like it here too, once she sees it for herself," Kurami concluded.

Laughter echoed through the room as Akame, Kurami, and Kurohime returned downstairs, where Yukari and Fae awaited them. After an hour, Yuzuki and Suzuran joined the group.

"Did you two lovebirds already break in the bed?" Kurami teased as they descended the stairs.
"Kurami, that's enough teasing," Akame said, nudging her playfully.
The dining table was no longer a cluttered workstation. Elegant plates, forks, spoons, and candles were now laid out, setting a welcoming ambiance. Delicious aromas wafted from the kitchen, courtesy of Scarlet and Azure's culinary efforts.
"I didn’t realize how hungry I was," Suzuran admitted, pulling out a chair at the table. "Guess I was too preoccupied to notice."
"Probably because you were devouring my face which satiated that hunger for a while." Yuzuki teased with a playful nudge.
Suzuran's cheeks flushed a brilliant crimson. "Yuzuki!" she exclaimed, playfully swatting at her.
Akame's eyes rolled back in exasperation. "Oh gods, not another one," she muttered. Kurami mirrored her reaction.
Kurohime, stifling a snort of laughter, couldn't help herself and burst out laughing. "I love her already!" she declared, rising from her chair and pulling Yuzuki into a playful hug. "Finally, someone else keeps things interesting!"

Fae, flustered by the second-hand embarrassment, hid her face behind her hands, a blush creeping up her neck. Yukari, however, seemed amused, letting out a soft, seductive giggle. "Oh my," she murmured.

"Alright, everyone," Akame said, attempting to regain control of the lively room. "Now that we're all gathered, I wanted to discuss a few things over dinner."

"First things first, Suzu," Akame began, "how are things progressing with the Adventurer's Guild? Any news about your rank up? It's definitely overdue."

"Actually, about that." Suzuran said, finally recomposing herself after Yuzuki's earlier comment. "They assigned someone for my duel."

"Who is it?" Akame inquired, curiosity piqued.

Suzuran and Yuzuki exchanged a knowing look and chuckled in unison. "You."

Surprise washed over Akame, Fae, Yukari, and Kurohime.

"Oh, well, that simplifies things," Akame remarked, having anticipated this possibility. "We can handle that later this week, perhaps."

"I figured you'd want to get it out of the way quickly," Suzuran giggled. "You never were a big fan of paperwork."

"I'd be happy to assist with that, Miss Suzuran and Miss Akame," Fae volunteered. "Dealing with paperwork is my specialty. It would be my pleasure to contribute."

"Thank you so much, Fae," Akame said warmly. Fae, clearly flustered by the compliment, retreated back into her shy demeanor.

Akame turned to Yuzuki. "Speaking of contributions, Azure mentioned you had an idea for the guild. Care to elaborate?"

"Oh! That's right, I had almost forgotten about that" Yuzuki exclaimed. "Since we're actively recruiting, I thought I could help with scouting for new members. Additionally, I'd like to propose the creation of an 'assassin group' within the guild, of course, under your leadership, Akame."

Yuzuki continued. "But if it's acceptable, I would lead it but I'd appreciate Miss Yukari's guidance with the group."

Akame pondered the proposal, intrigued. "That's an interesting concept, Yuzuki. Kurohime, Yukari, what are your thoughts?" she asked, seeking input from the two experienced women.

"Intriguing," Kurohime rumbled, stroking her chin thoughtfully. "Having a group specializing in stealth and infiltration could prove invaluable, especially for handling delicate requests."

Yukari's lips curled into a knowing smile. "I find the idea quite appealing. It seems even after the trials you endured at the assassin's guild, Yuzuki, you haven't lost your passion. I wholeheartedly approve, I will provide guidance and training for your group, as you suggested."
"That simplifies things then," Akame said with a nod. “You can form your group, Yuzuki. However, anyone you recruit will need to be vetted by Fae, Yukari and myself before joining."

"Sounds fair," Yuzuki agreed.

"Anyone in mind for initial recruitment?" Akame inquired.

"For starters," Yuzuki explained, "Azure and Scarlet would be part of the group. However, their duties here at the guild hall take precedence unless a critical situation arises."
"Reasonable," Akame acknowledged. "Anyone, anything else?"
"I'll need to wait until I return home and speak with Grammy before considering joining," Kurami stated.

Akame turned to Kurohime, Yukari, and Fae. "Any thoughts from you three?"

All three women shook their heads in unison.

"Well then," Akame declared, rising from her chair, "it seems dinner is calling. Azure, Scarlet, whenever you're finished in the kitchen, let us know!"

A few minutes later, a delectable feast was brought out. Steaks, soups, vegetables, and a vibrant array of fruits. This marked the first grand dinner within the newly constructed guild hall. Laughter filled the room, and a warm sense of camaraderie enveloped everyone.

Yuzuki peppered Yukari with questions about the bygone era of the assassin's guild. Later, Kurohime and Yuzuki engaged in a lighthearted exchange about their love lives. At another corner of the table, Fae, Suzuran, and Kurami discussed the guild's future and the surrounding village's development.
Akame couldn't help but smile as she watched the scene unfold. Everything was finally falling into place – a new home, her own guild, and a renewed sense of purpose. Relief washed over her as she witnessed Suzuran finally move on from their past.

Later that night, Akame sat alone in her room, gazing out the window at the starlit expanse.

"The guild needs a name," she murmured to herself.

A flurry of names flitted through her mind, each one discarded as unsuitable or cliche. "Bewildered Blades? Awful. Moonlit Howlers? Equally bad," she muttered, her brow furrowed in concentration.

"Maelstrom? Too simple. Crimson… Crimson has potential, but it needs something more." Frustrated, Akame continued brainstorming. Her gaze drifted upwards, landing on the moon.

The moon appeared colossal, mirroring its size on the night of when her village was attacked thirteen years ago. A dark cloud descended upon her as vivid memories resurfaced. The adrenaline-fueled battle, the slashes of her blade, the metallic tang of blood. She tried to suppress these harrowing memories, as they invariably plunged her into despair. The warmth of blood spattering her face as she cut down bandits was a sickeningly familiar sensation.

Then, a detail clicked into place. The moon that night – it was the same size as the one hanging in the sky now. But back then, it had also been red… Her eyes covered with the blood of the bandits that had fallen that night.

Akame snapped out of her trance, a whisper escaping her lips. "Crimson Moon. That's it. That will be our name, so I will never forget."

Her mind drifted back to the past, a vision of a sixteen-year-old Akame staring at the moon, her face coated in blood, surrounded by the fallen bodies of bandits.

The next morning, Akame awoke to find that she had slept in her chair by the window. Realizing she'd overslept, she rose, cleaned her clothes, and headed downstairs.

On the second floor, Akame prepared to knock on Fae’s door for a quick chat. Just before knocking, the door to Kurohime's room creaked open ever so slightly.

"Kurohime must have overslept too," Akame thought, turning to greet her with a good morning.

However, Yukari emerged instead, just starting to button up a very basic button up shirt that could barely fit her and closing Kurohime's door behind her. She caught Akame's surprised gaze but remained unfazed.
"Sleep well, Akame? I know I certainly did," Yukari winked, leaving the rest of her shirt unbuttoned still revealing a lot of cleavage, before continuing down the hall heading down to the first floor.

The door to Kurohime's room opened again moments later, revealing Kurohime in her bed sheets that barely covered her body. "Oh, morning Akame. I thought… I heard something," she said, Akame offered a flat look as Kurohime quickly shut the door.

Akame muttered under her breath, "Are all these women in heat?" Playfully knocking on Fae’s door with her head, Footsteps could be heard coming towards the door as Fae answered it, still in her nightclothes.

"Good morning, Miss Akame! Is everything alright?" Fae inquired, concerned by Akame's expression.
Akame maintained her flat expression. "Can we kick members out?" she teased.

"Oh dear, what do you mean, Miss Akame?" Fae stammered.

"I’m just joking, Fae. Can I come in?" Akame asked.

Inside, Akame and Fae discussed the guild's name. Akame requested that Fae officially register it as "Crimson Moon."

"It's a wonderful name, Miss Akame," Fae remarked. "I'll get the paperwork done today. We're actually in need of some supplies I ordered a few days ago from Wavecrest Haven in the south. Would you and someone else be willing to travel there to finalize the deal? It's about a four-day journey."

"I’ll grab someone from downstairs," Akame replied.. Before she even moved to leave the room, a voice stopped her.

"I'll go with Akame," Kurohime declared, now fully dressed.

"Are you sure you have the energy after last night?" Akame teased.

Kurohime purred back, "Oh, I'm still up for round two if that's what you're asking."

Fae interjected, clearly flustered. "Miss Kurohime, please refrain from such lewd comments!"

"You both could join me right now if you'd like," Kurohime continued, gesturing seductively towards her room. "I can always get undressed again."

Akame and Fae both responded with a firm "No," earning a pout from Kurohime.

"Well, at least I got what I wanted last night," she muttered.

The three women descended to the first floor, where they found Yuzuki, Kurami, and Suzuran enjoying breakfast prepared by Scarlet and Azure. The spread included both sweet and savory dishes.

"Good morning! Did you sleep well?" Suzuran greeted Akame with her newly found energy.

Akame's response was laced with playful annoyance. "Not quite as well as some, it seems," she said, a subtle jab at the earlier events with Yukari and Kurohime.

Suzuran's brow furrowed in confusion, but Yuzuki, seated beside her, understood perfectly. A silent giggle escaped her lips.

"Fae needs Kurohime and me to travel to Wavecrest Haven," Akame explained. "We're finalizing an order she placed. It's a four-day journey, so we'll be back in a little over a week."

"Sounds good! Yuzuki and I were planning to explore the village and see if we can help with any remaining construction." Suzuran chirped.

Akame raised her voice, calling out towards the library's open door. "Yukari!"

"Yes dear?" Yukari's voice echoed from within.

"You're in charge while we're out," Akame instructed. "And please, try to avoid any… suggestive behavior, alright?"

Yukari appeared in the doorway, a knowing smile playing on her lips. "Of course, Akame. In fact, I was hoping to spend some quality time with dear Yuzuki over the next few nights, catching up on everything I missed about the assassin's guild. I should be well-occupied until you return."

"Very good," Akame conceded. "Well, we're off. Fae, please check in on Hana while we're gone to make sure she has everything she needs."

"Of course," Fae replied.

With that, Akame and Kurohime embarked on their journey to Wavecrest Haven. The trip was uneventful, and they soon found themselves in the bustling heart of the small village, a popular trading hub for coastal communities.

As they entered the village, the streets teemed with traveling merchants.

"I wouldn't have thought such a small place could be so crowded," Kurohime remarked, surprised by the throngs of people.

"I've heard stories about how busy it gets here, but this is my first time visiting," Akame admitted. They continued their walk, navigating the bustling streets in search of the trade shop.

After a few minutes, they located their destination. Stepping inside, they found an elderly woman behind the counter.

"Welcome, ladies! How can I be of service?" she greeted them kindly.

"We're here to finalize an order placed under the name 'Fae,'" Akame explained.

The woman's eyes widened in recognition. "Ah yes! The new guild just south of Mahina Village. And to what position do you belong within the guild?"

"I am the leader," Akame stated.

The woman's surprise deepened. "Goodness! I wouldn't have expected the guild leader herself to appear. I was under the impression Miss Fae would handle this."

"That makes sense," Akame replied. "She isn't technically an adventurer, so I wanted to handle this personally for her."

The woman's smile widened. "What a thoughtful leader you are. Well then, please complete this paperwork and we'll go over the order to confirm everything." She handed Akame the documents, which she signed and returned.

"Follow me, and let's take a look at what will be delivered in the next few days." The woman led them out back, where a large cart stood overflowing with supplies.

"Here you are, ladies. This is your order," the woman announced, gesturing towards the cart.

Akame and Kurohime peered inside. To their surprise, the cart was filled with magical stones used for heating– perfect for hot springs, hot baths, and even cooking without a fire. The sheer quantity left Akame wondering about their intended purpose.

"These must be for the hot spring Fae mentioned being built behind the guild hall," Kurohime surmised.

"Look at these." Akame exclaimed, pointing to another large box.

Inside were firestones – runestones engraved with fire magic that emitted a constant flame, ideal for nighttime illumination. They were commonly used in towns and cities, or as bedroom light sources that could be activated or deactivated by touching the base of the lantern.

The remaining boxes contained furniture, fishing supplies, and even frozen fish preserved with ice runestones.

"Fae really thought of everything," Kurohime remarked, impressed. "No wonder you recruited her."

Akame smiled in agreement. They confirmed with the woman that everything was accounted for, she also mentioned the cart and a dozen horses that were still en route were included.

"Horses?" Akame echoed, surprised.

The woman chuckled. "It seems your manager truly thought of everything. The horses will arrive at our village in about a week, so expect them at the guild in two weeks."

With their business concluded, they stopped at a local inn for food and lodging. That night, Akame suggested taking a different route back, hoping to encounter potential recruits. The detour would only add half a day to their journey. Kurohime agreed, and they settled in for the night. The next morning, they set off on the alternate path. The first two days were uneventful, mirroring their journey to Wavecrest Haven. However, the third day took a turn.

In the afternoon, they stumbled upon a deserted campsite – a scattered campfire, bedrolls, and troubling signs. Blood stained the ground, and claw marks ripped across one of the bedrolls.

"Whatever attacked here wasn't big," Akame said, kneeling to examine the claw marks. "Maybe a griffin?"
Kurohime picked up a burnt feather from the ashes. "Definitely a griffin, but young."

"No bodies," Akame noted. "And not enough blood for serious injury. Maybe the griffin's own blood?"

"Probably" Kurohime concurred. "But if it was young, there's a chance we'll encounter the mother later. We should warn any travelers we come across. Adventurers in large groups should be fine."

They continued their journey, relaying the warning to any merchants they met on the alternate path. By dusk, they decided to find a campsite for the night. As they scouted for a suitable location, a faint glow emanated from the forest, accompanied by voices. Adventurers, likely, camped out in a clearing further in.

"I sense five people," Kurohime murmured. "One has a… unique aura. Do you mind if we join them?"

Akame nodded, and they approached the camp. Two men, one older and one younger, reacted instantly as Akame and Kurohime emerged from the trees.

"Identify yourselves!" the younger man barked, reaching for his weapon.

"We mean no harm," Akame replied, calmly presenting her adventurer tags. "We're fellow adventurers passing through."

Recognizing the tags, the men relaxed and sat back down by the fire.

"Thanks for identifying yourselves quickly," the younger man said sheepishly. "Things could've gotten messy otherwise."

Akame and Kurohime settled on the opposite side of the camp from the other adventurers' belongings.
As they settled by the fire, Akame discreetly scanned the group. The two men across from them were obviously humans, likely warriors. A blue oni woman emanated magical energy, clearly a mage. Beside her sat an elf with darker attire than a typical mage, hinting at a more darker magical practice.

"Where's the fifth?" Akame whispered to Kurohime.

"In the tent," Kurohime murmured back.

The tent flap rustled open, revealing a shy young woman likely in her early twenties. Akame understood Kurohime's comment about a unique aura. The campfire light illuminated her face. Pure white hair, blue horns, and gentle blue eyes framed a warrior's armor. But it was the faint aura that confirmed Akame's suspicion – this was an ice dragon, and possibly...

"We... have visitors?" the young woman mumbled, rubbing her eyes sleepily.

The rest of the group gathered around the fire, expecting introductions.

"Apologies, we haven't introduced ourselves," Akame began, rising with Kurohime at her side. "I'm Akame, and this is Kurohime. We represent the newly formed guild, Crimson Moon. We're actually recruiting if any of you are interested."

The older man stood. "I'm Kellan," he said, gesturing to the younger male beside him. "This is Aedan. The blue one there is Tsuki, and the elf next to her is Eve." He groaned and sat back down. "The useless one who just woke up is Crystal." He tossed a pebble at her head as she dozed off again.
This angered Kurohime, but she kept her composure. Now it was confirmed this was Ember's younger sister. She must have ventured away from home, likely searching for Ember.

"We appreciate the offer, Akame," Kellan said, "but myself, Aedan, Tsuki, and Eve are already in a guild together. As for Crystal..." He paused, then tossed another pebble at her head. "She's... well problematic to say the least."

"Then what brings you all out here? And what ranks are you if I may ask?" Akame inquired.

"We were evaluating Eve and Tsuki, who are trial members," Kellan explained. "Crystal here also wanted to join, so we were giving her a little test. Honestly, I couldn’t recommend her less." Crystal flinched visibly at his harsh words. While reserved, there was a clear strength in her aura, mirroring her sister's.

"We're all B-Rank," Kellan continued, "except Eve, who's A-Rank."

Kurohime turned to Crystal. "And you?" she asked gently.

"M-Me? I'm A-Rank too," Crystal stammered. Another pebble whizzed at her, striking her cheek causing it to bleed.

"Don't believe a word of it," Kellan scoffed. "She probably just lied about her rank. The only thing she's good for is that pretty face, which helps us get discounts at stores."

"Enough!" Kurohime's voice, though not raised, held undeniable authority. The blatant disrespect towards Crystal infuriated her. Akame, however, placed a calming hand on Kurohime's arm. Seeing Akame's composure, Kurohime knew her partner had a plan.

"We apologize for the intrusion," Akame said smoothly. "I just remembered an urgent matter that requires our immediate return to the guild. We bid you farewell and hope to see you again under better circumstances."

Akame gestured for Kurohime to follow, as they began walking away. Crystal was visibly saddened to see them leave.

"Suit yourselves," Kellan called after them. "Don't waste any more time then, especially since you didn't find what you were looking for."

Back on the main path, Akame fell into deep thought, stroking her chin.

"What's on your mind?" Kurohime asked. "I know that calm facade. Those men are awful to her and it took everything I had to not tear them open."

Akame had a plan. "We might have a way to help Crystal prove herself. Remember that injured griffin, or maybe even the mother? We could lure it towards their camp. The others can probably handle it, but I want Crystal to shine and make them regret treating her like that."

Akame and Kurohime returned to the ravaged campsite. "This looks like a suitable spot," Akame said, activating a vial that released a pungent odor. "Hopefully, it'll attract our target. Kurohime, do you have anything to lure a creature with?"

"I can attempt a telepathic call, a challenge of sorts," Kurohime replied. "But there's no guarantee a griffin will respond."

"It's worth a shot," Akame said. "Let's do it."

Kurohime focused, her aura pulsing outwards in a silent challenge. After a moment, she lowered her stance and turned to Akame. "Alright, let's move. We need a vantage point close to their camp, somewhere hidden."

They took a longer detour, eventually finding a concealed spot on a cliffside, shrouded by thick bushes above their camp. As they waited, Kurohime kept her senses attuned to any approaching beasts. A few minutes later, her eyes widened.

"Something's coming," she announced. "It found your bait and is heading this way."

"Good," Akame said, a hint of anticipation in her voice. "Let's hope for the best."

Suddenly, Kurohime's expression shifted to one of alarm. "Oh no, it's not a griffin."

"What is it?" Akame asked, but before she could get an answer, a deafening roar echoed through the trees.

A dark silhouette took flight above the trees, its powerful wings whipping the air into a frenzy. Eve, on night watch duty, reacted with immediate concern, yet maintained her composure. Crystal, who had left the camp to fetch water, heard the roar and sprinted back immediately, panicked by the possibility of being blamed for her group being killed.

As Crystal arrived, the fight was already in full swing. A white dragon, its scales gleaming in the moonlight, had swooped down. Eve, despite being the first line of defense, was quickly overwhelmed and injured. Tsuki's magical attacks were ineffective, and she collapsed to the ground, drained of magic. Kellan cowered behind a tree. Aedan, proving himself no braver, fled into the woods, abandoning his companions to their fate.

The dragon lunged toward the weakened elf, ready to deliver a finishing blow. But just as Eve closed her eyes in resignation, a metallic clang resonated through the clearing. The dragon snarled, its attack deflected by a shimmering greatsword.

Crystal stood defiant before the dragon. Ice had erupted from her shoulders and tailbone, her wings and tail materialized behind her. Her usual timidity had vanished, replaced by fierce determination.
"Well, well," Akame said from their hidden perch, a wide grin spreading across her face. Kurohime mirrored the expression. "Ember wasn't exaggerating about her sister's strength."

Crystal shoved the dragon back, her own roar resonating through the forest. Seizing the opportunity, she launched a relentless assault, her attacks inflicting significant damage. The dragon, clearly surprised by the unexpected challenge, roared in pain and attempted to flee. Crystal, however, was relentless. Soaring into the sky in pursuit, she delivered a decisive blow, severing the dragon's left wing, sending it crashing back down to the ground.

Kellan and Tsuki huddled together, tending to Eve's injuries. Aedan, who had cowardly abandoned his companions, reappeared upon hearing the commotion, only to shrink back behind cover once more. They watched in awe as Crystal continued her battle, the ground trembling beneath their feet. Tsuki, having finished healing Eve, was pushed out of the way as Eve rushed back into the fight.

Crystal, emboldened by Eve's support, launched a final attack. As she lunged for the dragon's head, the beast whipped its head aside, jaws snapping for Crystal's head. Just in time, a swirling dark mist materialized around the dragon, skeletal hands erupting to restrain it.

"Thank you, Eve!" Crystal cried, her voice filled with gratitude.

"Finish it!" Eve urged.

Crystal charged again, but the dragon wasn't finished. With a mighty roar, it shattered the skeletal prison. Infuriated, it spun and lashed its tail, sending Eve crashing into the trees. The others scrambled to her side, tending to her wounds.

Crystal, determined to stop the rampaging beast, aimed for a swift blow to the head, but the dragon was quicker. It spun, its massive claws tearing a bloody gash across Crystal's side and slamming her into the rocky cliff face below Akame and Kurohime's hiding spot.

Crystal groaned, battered and bleeding. Despite the pain, she struggled to her feet, determined to rejoin the fight. But a rustle in the bushes above sent a fresh wave of fear through her.

Akame and Kurohime knew it was time to intervene. Kurohime landed beside Crystal, while Akame strode towards the dragon, placing herself between the beast and the injured Crystal.

"Miss Kurohime!" Crystal gasped, surprised. Then, her eyes widened as she saw Akame standing defiantly before the dragon. "Miss Akame! Please, run!"

Akame turned to Crystal, her gaze unwavering. "Crystal, your strength is incredible. It's a shame you've been misunderstood and mistreated."

"Look out!" Crystal screamed, the dragon lunging at Akame.

In a single motion, Akame drew her katana. A crimson light flashed, and with a swift sheathing motion, the dragon was cleaved into three. Crystal stood speechless, questioning if she'd even blinked during the attack.
Eve witnessed the scene alongside the others. Shock and horror contorted their faces. The one they'd mocked and belittled earlier far exceeded anything they'd imagined. Even Kurohime shivered. This was a rare glimpse of Akame's true power, she had not seen from her before.

Akame approached Crystal, extending a hand. "We offer you a home, a place where you'll be treated as family," Akame said. Crystal looked at Akame’s hand and without hesitation took it.

Kurohime used her healing magic on Eve, while Akame formally introduced herself and Kurohime.

"We are the founders of Crimson Moon, a newly formed S-Rank guild," Akame revealed. "We'd like to invite you to join us, Crystal. Your courage and strength in the face of adversity were undeniable."

"You even protected Eve here," Kurohime added.

Akame smiled. "Plus, we met someone who mentioned she had a sister named Crystal."

Crystal's eyes widened. "You met Ember? Is she alright?"

Akame confirmed with a smile. "Yes, she's doing well. She was invited to join us as well, so she might be showing up soon." Tears welled up in Crystal's eyes as she readily accepted the offer.

Outrage erupted from Kellan, Aedan, and Tsuki. "Why her? She's been nothing but dead weight this whole time! Now, after some sudden display of 'true' power, she's suddenly worthy? Unbelievable!" Tsuki spat.

Akame shot them an icy stare, her voice sharp. "If any of you had bothered to get to know her, you'd have recognized her potential. Instead, you wasted her talent. You made her feel unwelcome and unworthy. I have no room for such trash in my guild.”

Akame tossed a scroll towards Eve, who fumbled to catch it. "If you seek a guild that doesn't tolerate such behavior, pay us a visit. Yukari can assess your abilities."

"D-Did you say Yukari? The legendary assassin guild leader from over a century ago?"

"You wouldn't be the first to be surprised to hear that name," Kurohime chuckled. "It's a long story, but you can visit and talk to her yourself."

Akame smirked. "Will we be seeing you there then, Eve?"

"Once I settle my affairs in the capital and resign from this guild, definitely. Thank you for the opportunity," Eve said with a grateful bow.

Crystal walked over to Eve and embraced her in a warm hug. Akame and Kurohime began their departure, Kurohime beckoning Crystal to follow. The remaining journey home was quiet, but Crystal bombarded Akame and Kurohime with questions about Ember and the guild. Upon returning to their village, Crystal was speechless. Unlike the usual guild halls nestled within towns, Crimson Moon was a guild built entirely with a village around it. As they approached the intersection at the center of the village, Crystal spotted someone emerging from the left. Her eyes widened with joy as the figure came into full view.

"Ember!" Crystal cried, rushing towards her sister for a tight hug.

"Crystal!? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at home?" Ember's voice was laced with worry.

"Mom and Dad were worried about you," Crystal explained. "They sent me to find a new home and, of course, you."

Ember sighed heavily. "Why didn't they just send a letter?"

Crystal looked puzzled. "They did... for almost seven months. You never responded."

Just then, Akame and Kurohime approached, Akame speaking before they reached the sisters.

"Ember, when you visited the Adventurer's Guild, did you request your messages? The guild will only inform you if you have official letters, not personal ones"

Ember's surprise was evident. "You have to request them? I thought they just gave them to you as they arrived!?"

Akame's surprise was evident as she covered her face with her palm.

Kurohime chuckled softly, "Welcome Ember," shaking Ember's hand. "Your sister here decided to join our guild, which might make your decision a little easier, wouldn't you say?"

Ember looked at Crystal. "You joined their guild?!"

Crystal, filled with appreciation, explained, "Of course! My previous group mistreated me, but Miss Akame and Miss Kurohime have been wonderful ever since they found me."

"Thank you both," Ember said, bowing to Akame and Kurohime. "I'm grateful you found my sister."

"No trouble at all, Ember," Akame replied, gesturing towards the guild hall. "Come inside, let's get you settled. We might be in time for lunch. Scarlet and Azure might have something delicious prepared."

As the four entered, the entire group warmly welcomed Ember and Crystal. Hana, Kurami, Yukari, Fae, Scarlet, Azure, Suzuran, Yuzuki, Kurohime, Akame, and now the newly arrived sisters – all gathered around the dining hall table, enjoying a grand feast that celebrated their ever-growing village and guild.
